GATE age limit: are you eligible?

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering · IISc and the seven IITs

There is no age limit

This exam sets no age condition at all — neither a minimum nor a maximum. If your date of birth is the only thing you were worried about, you can stop here.

We have not been able to confirm these figures against the official notification. Check the source below before you rely on them.

Check your own date of birth

Your age is measured on the cut-off date, not today — which is why knowing your age is not the same as knowing whether you qualify.

Your date of birth and category stay in this browser. They are not sent to our server, not put in the page address and not written to any log.

Age relaxation by category

This exam gives no category age relaxation.

Not «we do not have the data» — none is granted. The upper limit above is the same for General, OBC, SC, ST and PwBD candidates alike. A calculator that adds the usual +3 or +5 here would tell you that you qualify when you do not.

What the number above does not tell you

GATE has NO age limit at all, upper or lower. Eligibility is by qualification, not by age. This page exists because 4 400 people a month search for a GATE age limit — and the correct answer is that there is none.
